Popping for Parkinson’s Workshop

28 March, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm GMT

Transforming Parkinson’s patients into Popping dance students since 2015.

Enabling those who have been labelled disabled.

Using movement to create a movement.

FREE for participants with PD & £30 for dance teachers, physio’s, community workers etc.

This 2-hour workshop taught by the founder of Popping for Parkinson’s, Simone Sistarelli will transform your opinion on the power of Popping and how a symptom can become a superpower in dance.

Popping is part of Hip Hop culture and in true Hip Hop style (not the things you see on tv) this workshop encourages adults of all abilities to come together for a common purpose:

Meet new people, learn to turn a symptom into a superpower & to start or continue your love for dance.

Our pop up tea rooms will also be open during the event so that participants can get to know each other over a good old cuppa and some cake and make some local connections with like-minded people.

Popping is a style of dance that started in the late 1960’s and 70’s. This dance style is characterized by sudden tensing and releasing of the muscles (“hitting”) to the rhythm of beats in music. Having its roots in the late 1970s funk era, popping is commonly danced to funk and disco music. This is where we can turn what people see as a disability into a superpower.
