WHAT IS A DRESS REHEARSAL?
A theatre dress rehearsal is a full-scale rehearsal of a theatrical production that takes place just before the actual performances in front of an audience. It is a critical phase in the production process where the cast and crew come together to run the show as if it were a real performance, complete with costumes, makeup, props, and all technical elements (lights, sound, set changes, etc.).
WHY DO WE HAVE ONE?
- We test technical elements, props, lighting, timings
- To get familiar with the theatre and stage
- Build confidence in the dancers
- Teamwork – Dress rehearsals bring the entire cast and crew together to work collaboratively as a team. It allows everyone to see the production as a whole and understand how their individual contributions fit into the big picture.
